Activista social

¡Gracias!

Reasons for Running for Governor's Council:

Dr. Stacey Borden’s journey and dedication to advocating for formerly incarcerated women and addressing systemic issues within the justice system are truly commendable. With a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and a concentration in Addictions and Trauma, as well as a Substance Use Counselor, her work in developing a residential reentry program that utilizes Art Therapy and Counseling to facilitate healing is innovative and impactful. Dr. Borden’s participation in discussions at esteemed institutions like Harvard's Kennedy School and engagement with Criminal Justice Leaders underscores her commitment to reforming the racial climate within courtrooms and the broader justice system.

Borden’s advocacy for survivors of Sexual and Domestic Violence, as well as her efforts to foster leadership in black and brown communities, are crucial steps toward addressing pervasive societal issues. Her belief in disrupting oppressive systems within prisons and addressing healthcare disparities demonstrates a holistic understanding of the interconnected challenges faced by marginalized communities.

Borden’s call to action for releasing individuals through Clemency, Pardons, Commutations, and advocating for the selection of empathetic judges who prioritize alternatives to sentencing reflects a deep understanding of the necessary reforms needed within the legal system. Lastly, Dr. Borden’s multifaceted approach, blending advocacy, rehabilitation, and systemic change, embodies a vision for a more equitable and just society. Her dedication to this cause is inspiring and contributes significantly to the ongoing discourse on criminal justice reform and societal healing.
